California Dreamin' and Wedding Bells!

6/7/2011

Let's seeeee... A little Vegas, Mexican food, flower arrangements, Nerf guns, wedding rehearsal, more Mexican food, pictures, a ceremony, even more Mexican food, lot of dancing, 101 Dalmatians, a boat ride, toe rings, Laguna Beach, hot tub lounging, NON-Mexican food!! (finally!!), a little more Vegas, a book, oh yeah.... and Mexican food again... whew!

Needless to say?  It was a jam-packed weekend!

Ok, ok, ok... so let's start at the beginning...

The main occasion for the whole trip was my cousin Dave's wedding!  My mom and I went together (unfortunately my dad couldn't make it...) and we stayed with my Aunt Carol and Uncle John.  And so the adventure begins...

Day 1

Picture
Before we landed in sunny-but-surprisingly-colder-than-new-york California, Mom and I had a 3 hour layover in the Las Vegas airport.  Now I know what you're thinking - "DANGEROUS!"

Mom put $5 in a video slot machine at our gate and 10 minutes later walked away with $198!!!

.... I made a $5 donation to Lobstermainia..... (@#$%^&....)

Ok so today was a travel day.... not a whole lot happened!  Moving on!

Day 2

After breakfast, Aunt Carol, Mom, and I went to Stephanie (the then bride-to-be) and Dave's house to visit and "help" with the flower arrangements!
(I made the little one there in front...)  :)

Steph's mother, aunts, sister, and best friend were all around to help out and so we had a great time spending a few hours with them.

Plus!  I got to meet my newest little (age 7) cousin! (Woooo! Shout out to Jake even though the odds of him seeing this are possibly quite slim!! <3)

After heading home to Aunt Carol's for a bit (cue snacks and lounge chairs on the patio), it's time for the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner!

I managed to get this GREAT photo of Dave, Stephanie, Aunt Carol, and Uncle John!  One of the best from the weekend for sure...

At the restaurant, we had out own little alcove all to ourselves - just perfect!

And the view of Lake Mission Viejo?  You couldn't beat it...

Day 3

Mom and I were all set for the big day!!

The ceremony was just perfect (I was on video duty so unfortunately I don't really have any pictures from it).  But here are a few favorites from the reception!

After we were all partied out, Jake came back to Carol and John's with us and we watched 101 Dalmations before bed.  Well, Mom, Carol and I watched it.... Jake was asleep before the opening credits were finished!

Day 4

With the newlyweds off on their honeymoon, we were ready for a day of true California relaxation...

After a big pancake breakfast, Uncle John took us all to Lake Mission Viejo for a little boat ride and to soak up some sun.  We had a nice time puttering around, looking at the houses, and chatting.  Want to see some photos?  I thought so...

                                             (Same deal... play button...)  :)
Post boat ride, we parked ourselves back on the patio with some snacks.  We had a couple hours before Jake had to go to a birthday party - perfect for some photos and splashing around in the spa.

When Jake went to his birthday party, the girls decided to take one last adventure and hit up Laguna Beach!  One thing was for sure - toe rings were a MUST purchase!  And anything else we managed to find... ;)

                                                           (you know the drill...)
Have I completely worn you out with this trip yet?  Sorry... I know it's been a lot... But we were busy!

Day 5

Not a whole lot to report here really... Just a travel day... :P  Got to the airport early so I picked up a book to keep me occupied (I managed to leave my iPod at Carol and John's so I was fresh out of music and games...).  We passed through Vegas again!  Mom's luck seems to have run out but I didn't do too bad - up $20, which isn't too shabby!  Finally pulled up home around 1 AM, completely exhausted but completely thrilled with my mini-vacation... :)

Ok!  (*shakes out of it*)  Back to studying!  :P
