Not really a whole lot to say other than that, but here are some photos from the evening!
Semi-formal was on the 12th and it was sooo much fun! :)

There's just something about a beautiful holiday morning that makes you say "No! I don't want to stay snuggled up in bed!" and "Yes! I'd love to freeze me cute little butt off and RUN!" Ok... so maybe that's just dripping with a LITTLE sarcasm... but nonetheless! I headed downtown for the Troy Turkey Trot 5K... Last year I played the role of Supportive Girlfriend and watched Rob run the 10K but somehow he convinced me to throw on my own running shoes for this year... Here is me at the starting line trying to look as not-cold and not-tired as possible... And by at the starting line, I mean about 200 meters behind it. The 5K race had 4,950 finishers!!! (The 10K race had 765 finishers) And they're off! And the final kick coming around to the finish! My final time was 30:45 and I'm pretty proud of myself! Especially given that I haven't really been running much lately! I maintained the same pace for the entire race (yup, ran the entire time!) and I even had enough left for a big kick at the end! I had so much fun... :) Here's Rob and I between our races! Hmm... yeah, you're right... we both have that cold and tired look, huh? Too bad! Time for Rob's 10K! Coming off the starting line! Can you find him? And here he's coming down the stretch at the finish! (Final Time? 42:35!) After all this exercise, I just wanted a hot shower (necessary for the thawing process as well) and a nap! Alas, only time for one before the food festival - sorry, nap... Here's Mom and Dad with the finished turkey! And here's everyone at the table! (Two photos for the swapped photographers...) :) The newest additions? Joe's girlfriend Emily and her son Ryan! Adorable... :)
We ended up skipping the Black Friday shopping this year and settled on movies instead. All in all? A wonderful day! NO! NOT that kind of proposal!!! A research proposal!! I spent most of the last week writing and summarizing how I'd like to spend the next 3 or 4 years of my life and I think I've finally settled! Now, if ooooonnnnllllly the EPA (the target of this particular submission) could find it in their little green hearts to gift me the money to do it! I'm sure you're all anxious to know what plan for new discovery I have up my sleeve, but... well... you might blab! Ergo, this is staying between me and those privileged enough to read my proposal. Soooo... yeah.... just me then, I guess.... (Originally published at http://www.phdcomics.com/comics.php on Nov. 7, 2011) (I wish I was kidding...)
