NO! NOT that kind of proposal!!! A research proposal!! I spent most of the last week writing and summarizing how I'd like to spend the next 3 or 4 years of my life and I think I've finally settled! Now, if ooooonnnnllllly the EPA (the target of this particular submission) could find it in their little green hearts to gift me the money to do it! I'm sure you're all anxious to know what plan for new discovery I have up my sleeve, but... well... you might blab! Ergo, this is staying between me and those privileged enough to read my proposal. Soooo... yeah.... just me then, I guess.... (Originally published at http://www.phdcomics.com/comics.php on Nov. 7, 2011) (I wish I was kidding...)
Holy cow! What happened to this last week?! (Not to mention, the one before that!)
It's safe to say that my last two weeks have been quite busy - I'm happy to report that I've been able to make *some* progress with my research but unfortunately I have been severely neglecting crafting, cooking, etc. This must change! (I will also mention that SOMEONE *cough*cough*Sarabeth* got me hooked on Prison Break, which basically dominated my free time because I just HAD to know what was going to happen next!!! Happy to report, I've finished the series and can now go back to my real life.) (Although if any of you are looking for something to fill your time, I highly recommend it...) Anyways! The upcoming weeks promise to be filled with report writing, back-to-back experiments, studying for my qualifier, TA training (GROSS!), and getting ready for classes to start! Although I will be sure to take a few breaks and hopefully come up with something post-worthy so as to not neglect you all again... :) And with that? I leave you with one of my favorite comics.... (That's what Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson said anyway, when she congratulated us after the Masters degree students received our diplomas.) Ok, so maybe it wasn't quite the universe... But I DID get my Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering today! It was a beautiful, sunny day - although the black gowns made it a liiiiiiittle warm... (And while it was nice that they were 100% made from recycled plastic bottles, it still meant I was sitting outside in a plastic bottle... a black plastic bottle... also known as a sauna.) Lucky for me there was a nice breeze so it wasn't too bad. :) Mom, Dad, and Rob were there cheering me on. Here are some of the pictures they took! (Just click on the photos for a larger view! You can also scroll through them that way...) It was a wonderful day and I now have my second degree under my belt! On to number three!! Mom and Dad are taking Rob and I out to dinner in Saratoga a little later tonight to celebrate. :)
